What is the purpose of the Call for Webinar Proposals?
One of PRIM&R's priorities is ensuring our webinars represent the topics, issues, and voices that are most relevant to our attendees. Therefore, we regularly solicit, and always welcome, feedback and input from our webinar attendees. The Call for Webinar Proposals takes our commitment to serving our communities' needs to the next level by inviting members of those communities to propose and facilitate webinars on topics of interest, relevance, and importance to them.
Do I need to be a PRIM&R member to submit a webinar proposal?
No. However, if you are interested in becoming a member, please review the range of benefits that come with membership and email Kayla Parker to get started.
How do I submit a webinar proposal?
You may submit information for your session proposal or speaker suggestion through our online submission form. The priority deadline for having your submission considered is July 31, 2018.
May I submit more than one webinar proposal?
Yes, you may! You must complete a separate online submission for each webinar proposal, and each will be reviewed independently. Please include your full contact information with each submission.
Do you offer compensation to webinar presenters?
Presenter(s) whose webinar proposal is accepted for presentation and who complete all stages of the planning process, including participation in planning calls, development of a program description, webinar discussion guide, additional resources guide, delivery of a webinar on the scheduled date, and completion of a follow-up blog post, will receive an honorarium.
If my proposal is selected, can I earn continuing education credits toward CIP or CPIA recertification?
For the holders of the CPIA credential, continuing education credit is available; please refer to the CPIA recertification guidelines for details. This opportunity does not carry credits toward CIP recertification at this time.
When will I know if my webinar proposal has been accepted?
For proposals submitted by July 31, 2018, authors will be notified by August 17, 2018 regarding the status of their proposals. After July 31, 2018, proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis, and authors will be notified of their status within four weeks of submitting.
Will my proposed webinar change if it is accepted?
We view webinars as opportunities to collaborate with presenters. As we consider your proposal, we may have ideas for a different scope or focus of the proposed content, and we will discuss those ideas with you. Presenters will have the opportunity to provide feedback, but acceptance of certain topics may depend upon the presenter's willingness and ability to modify the original idea. Please note also that all proposed speakers may not be selected to present the webinar outlined in the submission. Due to PRIM&R's continued efforts to ensure participation by speakers of diverse backgrounds and institutional and/or organizational affiliations, we reserve the right to invite an alternate speaker to co-present the webinar with the submitter.
If my proposal is accepted, what is the commitment associated with presenting a PRIM&R webinar?
The commitment associated with developing and delivering a PRIM&R webinar includes:
- Participation in up to three planning calls (which may include initial brainstorming session with PRIM&R, content planning with PRIM&R and another presenter, and training on the webinar technology and rehearsal)
- Development of a program description, discussion guide, and additional resources list to accompany the webinar
- Presentation of the webinar
- Contribution of content to a blog post following the webinar
Can you provide some examples of active learning strategies?
We encourage you to think about the teaching methods you'll employ during the webinar. Examples of active learning strategies during a webinar include:
- Case studies – presentation, analysis, and discussion
- Polling and challenge questions –questions posed during the webinar to encourage interactivity between the speakers and audience
PRIM&R is happy to help you think about how to develop your webinar to incorporate active learning techniques. Just let us know how we can help!
